Licensed Mobile Yard Mechanic (310J)
Location: Woodstock, Ontario Schedule: Monday to Thursday, 2:00 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. (four-day week) Pay: $47.00 to $54.00 per hour (base $42.00 to $49.00 plus $2.00 mobile premium and $3.00 evening premium)
Four days on, three days off, and nobody looking over your shoulder. If you're a trailer man who'd rather run your own truck than stand in a lineup for a hoist, this is a different kind of seat.
There's no shop at this location. You work out of a fully equipped service truck, on trailers only, in the yard. No road calls, no highway breakdowns at three in the morning, no chasing units across the county. Just you, your truck, and the equipment in front of you.
What you'll be doing
- Diagnosing and repairing trailers of all sizes, on your own, in the yard
- Air and hydraulic brake systems, HVAC, instruments and gauges
- Identifying and sourcing the parts a job needs
- Preventive maintenance at all levels
- Writing up warrantable repairs on the repair order
- Keeping your service truck stocked, organized and safe
- Making the call yourself, because there's nobody in a bay to ask
What you bring
- Ontario 310J Truck-Trailer Repairer Certificate of Qualification preferred
- 310T holders with solid trailer experience will absolutely be considered
- 2+ years hands-on tractor-trailer maintenance
- Class G licence, with the ability to obtain a DZ
- Comfortable working outdoors and on your own
- Full set of hand tools
What it actually pays
- $47.00 to $54.00 per hour on this shift, with the mobile and evening premiums included
- $2.00 per hour mobile premium on every hour worked
- Shift premiums: $3.00 evening, $4.00 overnight, $3.00 weekend
- Four-day work week, three days off every week
