Licensed Diesel Mechanic I (Red Seal)
Location: Edmonton, Alberta Schedule: Monday to Friday, 3:15 p.m. to 11:45 p.m. Pay: $45.00 to $48.00 per hour (base $42.00 to $45.00 plus $3.00 evening shift premium)
Afternoons in a well-run shop beat days in a bad one. Fewer interruptions, a quieter floor after the day crew clears out, and the room to work a job through properly instead of rushing it out the door.
This is a Red Seal seat on a current fleet with proper diagnostic equipment and a shop that's actually organized. If you're wrenching somewhere that's short on tooling and long on excuses, this is worth a conversation.
What you'll be doing
- Full diagnostics, overhaul and repair on tractors and trailers
- Major components: engines, transmissions, differentials, turbochargers, fuel systems, complete assemblies
- Air and hydraulic brakes, steering, wheel bearings, suspension, HVAC
- Preventive maintenance at all levels, documented properly
- Flagging warrantable repairs on the repair order
- Road testing to confirm the repair
- Running your own board with minimal supervision
What you bring
- Red Seal or Alberta Journeyperson Certificate in Heavy Equipment Technician or Truck and Transport Mechanic
- 5+ years hands-on tractor-trailer experience
- Class 3 licence with air brake (Q) endorsement, or the ability to obtain it within six months
- Your own hand tools
- Current registration with Alberta's apprenticeship and industry training authority
What it actually pays
- $45.00 to $48.00 per hour on this shift, with the evening premium included
- Shift premiums: $3.00 evening, $4.00 overnight, $3.00 weekend
