Licensed Diesel Mechanic I (Red Seal)
Location: Saskatoon, Saskatchewan Schedule: Monday to Friday, 12:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Pay: $45.00 to $48.00 per hour (base $42.00 to $45.00 plus $3.00 evening shift premium)
An afternoon shift that lets you get your errands done in the morning and still be finished before midnight. Five days, weekends off, in a shop that keeps its equipment current and its schedule honest.
Saskatoon doesn't have an endless supply of Red Seal truck and transport mechanics, and the shops that know that treat theirs accordingly. If you've been carrying a shop that hasn't noticed, this is worth a look.
What you'll be doing
- Diagnosing, overhauling and repairing tractors and trailers across the fleet
- Major component work: engines, transmissions, differentials, turbochargers, fuel systems, complete assemblies
- Air and hydraulic brake systems, steering, wheel ends, suspension, HVAC
- Preventive maintenance at all levels, documented properly
- Identifying warrantable repairs and writing them up on the repair order
- Road testing units before they go back into service
- Running your own board with minimal supervision
What you bring
- Red Seal or Saskatchewan journeyperson certification as a Truck and Transport Mechanic or Heavy Duty Equipment Technician
- 5+ years hands-on tractor-trailer experience
- Class 3 licence with air brake endorsement, or the ability to obtain it within six months
- Full set of hand tools
- Certification in good standing with the Saskatchewan Apprenticeship and Trade Certification Commission
What it actually pays
- $45.00 to $48.00 per hour on this shift, with the evening premium included
- Shift premiums: $3.00 evening, $4.00 overnight, $3.00 weekend
